American Gladiators

When I would throw parties at my parents' house in high school, we would set up gauntlets in the backyard using tennis balls and paintball guns. The barricades would be random shit we could dig up in the basement and garage.

The "gladiator" would stand on top of the railing of my back deck with two beer bottles positioned on either side of them, and would shoot paintballs at the "contestant" as they made their way through the gauntlet.

The contestant would try to go from barricade to barricade making their way towards the deck. As the course went on, the barricades got smaller. At each barricade, there were 2 tennis balls that they launched back at the 2 beers that were positioned next to the gladiator on the railing, and if they knocked one down, they won. If the contestant made it all the way to the porch, they won. If the gladiator shot them with a paintball, they lost. If it took the contestant more than 5 minutes to make it through, they lost.

To light up the yard, we drove two cars onto the backyard on either side of the house and put on the brights with the cars facing inward towards the porch.

Prizes and punishments ranged from beers and drugs to kicks in the nuts.

Such great times. Those neighbors hated me.

Now go out there, get drunk, and do that at your parents houses kids!
