American here. What are we actually going to do about the ever growing homelessness? There’s no way it can keep going on like this. It’s starting to look like a Mad Max movie outside.

Ok so this entire situation is drenched in privilege. Having a pack to pack is more than many people have. What agricultural area? How did you find that job? Not everyone who becomes homeless with health problems has a working body that can withstand a physical labor job, the healthy mental state to cognitively understand and reason, make responsible decisions, who has zero dependents like children or grandparents who are disabled or need care…etc. Just because you personally happened to have all these options you took for granted and viewed as an easy choice, does not mean your experience of homelessness was how ALL homeless experiences are. This is quite a “pull yourself up with your bootstraps” message that misses the entire point of the issue
