The BS is that his history doesn't speak for him at all. This is what people are mean when they say "cancel culture" - a lifetime of intellectual integrity is irrelevant, live and die by whether or not your latest comment comforts our every sensitivity.

I've been loving the rise of our social memory about conservative cancel culture, pointing out how "cancel culture" as a far right talking point is hypocritical in light of evangelical puritanism's long history of trying to cancel anything in sight. And I wouldn't call it high praise to point out the hypocrisy of how the evangelical right will protect and support anyone who serves their agenda as we've seen with Trump, Cruz and friends. But god damn do liberals eat their own at a drop of a hat if anyone threatens the packaged narrative.
