American vigilante hacker sends Russia a warning: An American vigilante hacker -- who calls himself "The Jester" -- has defaced the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in retaliation for attacks on American targets.

Horrible analogies. This is more like a security guard doing cash runs who is meant to keep the cash handcuffed to his wrist and follow security protocol at all times, but instead carries duffel bags of cash with dollar signs printed on them, and takes them into the bank one at a time leaving the others on the street unattended. It would be nice if nobody took the unattended bags, but it absolutely is his fault when they get stolen, it was his job to protect them.

And this whole "anti-victim blaming" thing is a worrying trend. You can't just waltz through life with reckless abandon and blame the rest of the world when bad things inevitably happen. Protecting yourself and your property is your responsibility. Your line of thinking encourages people to endanger themselves because it's never their fault. Obviously rape victims aren't to blame if they get raped no matter what they're wearing, but if you walk onto a highway and get hit by a car, yes that's your fault. Leaving your car open and things getting stolen from inside it is your fault. If you're doing something that makes it far easier and far more likely for you to become a "victim", yes you share some responsibility for the outcome.
