Americans that moved to Canada for work: how is life north of the border?

  1. Considerable pay cut if you work on the (US) coasts and quality of life hasn't improved (Toronto). If you'd like a big city with small town vibe and chill but uptight people then Toronto at least is like that. Personally I found that canadians are more different than americans culturally than most people seem to think as well. I honestly find it boring but for me NYC is perfect. Weather is similar (to NY) with exception of more drastic winters.
  2. no
  3. I thought because many big AI names are based out of Canada the scene would be hotter but with a few exceptions most events I've attended (AI related and some regular development stuff) although always full seem to attract mostly enthusiasts, professionals from different industries interested in the subject and younger people getting started.
