Americans Name Government as No. 1 U.S. Problem

Less than 25% of young adults vote (except when said vote is on legalizing marijuana) and we wonder why the people elected fail to represent us.

That sort of view has embedded into it the idea that the younger up-and-coming generation ISN'T widely of the view that we shouldn't be holding these votes that grant such immense power to a limited amount of men in the first place. That view imbeds into it the idea that the up-and-coming generation is largely in agreement that the way "things have been done for decades now" is largely still appropriate for the 21st century.

You can make a difference by voting it just seems that our generation can't spare an hour or two to go out and do it.

The current debt loads of our governments (and the implied interest payments that come with those) aside, this view again imbeds into it the idea that the change that our country needs today is one that comes through a political process that largely resembles what we have in place today.

Even if the only candidates are from major parties elections are a time to vote on local laws and elect local politicians that greatly effect you.

Perhaps the next generation wants more than just votes periodically though. In my opinion, I think the up and coming future generation is going to ask to hold their government's purse strings a lot more than the generation whose currently in their waning years.

Finally, I think it's important to realize that sometimes a system is built not for eternity but instead simply for a period of time. It's entirely possible for humans to construct a system that works good FOR AWHILE initially, and then that system declines over time and eventually hits a point where a new and different system would result in a better state of affairs.

I believe that the system that "made sense" for our grandparents is now in its waning stages and the system that "makes sense" for the current generation is going to be considerably different.
