Americans of Reddit - do you feel that gun ownership is a positive or negative for society, and why do you feel that way?

You keep the gun locked away so that you don't become the accessory to a crime. Or be found aiding/abetting a criminal.

If I'm a criminal why shouldn't I just steal everyone else's rations and then take more ammo? (It's easy to make ammo). And how are you expected to use a gun accurately without range practice?

The range would have extra for practicing but it stays there.

Yes good job, criminals break laws, we still need them.

And who the hell do you think you are in your narcissistic view that you should dictate how much munition people can have to protect themselves. Education and raising your children properly, and locking away your gun would solve 99.99% of gun crime.

And that will literally never happen. So do you have any solutions that aren't in fairy land?
