Sophomore in college. I saw the news about the first plane hitting as I was leaving for my morning class, but it didn’t really register in my mind how important that was. When I got to class it was only about 3/4 full and the professor immediately said the tower was hit and cancelled class. By the time I got back to the room we heard about and saw the second plane hit. Spent the rest of the day with my roommates watching the tv. I went to school in northern NY and had a lot of classmates from the city. One guy in particular from Staten Island just looked devastated when I saw him. He was always super cheerful and positive every time I’d seen him before. Campus was really quiet that day and the next day. My roommates and I went to a candlelight vigil. Just a lot of people being silent and trying to process what was happening.
