Americans should be confronted with slavery and native genocide the same way the Germans were confronted with the Holocaust

Not all Americans were complicit in slavery nor in native genocide contemporary to the time. My ancestors were dynastically abolishonist and none had even set a foot in a slave state until they served under the Union banner in the civil war. The tunnels under the buildings and the secret rooms in the house that were part of the Underground Railroad station are still intact on my family’s land. They also lived in conjunction with the Delaware, Shawnee and Mingo tribes and were adamant about sharing the development of the land with them until the federal government showed up and pushed them west.

I would say that some Americans are decidedly aware of the situations and their implications for the last 200+ years.
