Americans: Is Yankees vs. Red Sox considered the #1 sports rivalry? If not, what is #1?

Yeah earliest times I can recall with him getting pissed are the Reid and Coughlin era, but it goes wayyyyy back to the 1930s I believe. Giants and Eagles is almost 100 years old.

I know everyone likes to blow their wad over the media hype about New York and Boston, but Philadephia should be known for just as much.

Rangers-Flyers, Giants-Eagles, Mets-Phillies, Knicks-Sixers. Even the Phillies and Yankees played in the World Series in 2009, but like Giants/Eagles vs Patriots in the Super Bowl, not enough there other than a one-off series.

Yankees-Red Sox, Jets-Patriots, and Knicks-Celtics. Rangers-Bruins isn't a rivalry.
