A&E wait times...

That's the public system alright.

A few years ago I had a small injury where a keg crushed the top of a finger. Not life threatening in any way. I have private health insurance and was kept overnight in a bed and had surgery the next morning.

Talking to one of the nurses I would have been sent home if I had actually gotten seen the first day of public, and surgery would have been four days after being seen. Again, not at all a life threatening injury but the way I was treated meant for better results and more timely treatment.

Cut to now and I've a family member in the middle of chemo. Its actually terrifying to read the stats and realise that they would more than likely still be in the screening process if they were in the public system. Not getting potentially life extending treatment, but still unaware as to what was wrong.
