I think it’s great that you’re into Japanese culture. Learning about the world and having an interest in other cultures is awesome but I think you might want to be aware that you could be potentially fetishizing certain people and that can potentially be dangerous.

First of all that behavior can lead to objectifying people which dehumanizes them, and if you’re dehumanizing people and dating them solely based on a few factors you could be potentially overlooking red flags that this person could potentially not be good for you in a relationship or is incompatible with you aside from those few traits. By the time some people in relationships where they’ve objectified their partner realize they’ve gotten themselves in this situation, they’re already married with kids and are subjecting little humans to an unhealthy relationship dynamic that can be emotionally scarring for everyone involved.

I’m not saying this is you, but it’s definitely something to be self-aware of if this could potentially be the case for you.

I can’t really speak to the dating scene because I met my husband before online dating was so commonplace and I didn’t date him on the sole basis that he was chinese and I didn’t particularly take that big of an interest in his culture until after we had been dating for a while but just be careful.
