The root of the problem is a failure to acknowledge why we started disarming the populace in the first place.
America has turned a blind eye to the moral/ethical/philosophical reality of the firearm. It is a purpose-built killing machine. It is not meant to be enjoyed. It is not meant to be collected. It is not meant to be featured in your children's video games and dressed up in pretty colours like a barbie doll. Enjoying a firearm is akin to admitting that you enjoy the thought of murder.
We started disarming the populace because we knew it would make us all safer. It was never about government control. It was about making the correct moral decision.
