As an American living in Canada, I honestly think Canada is hopeless. Canadians are seriously offended when you point out problems with their government or public services. They don't want change.

Watching the entirety of our state apparatus being completely unable to handle the slightest unexpected event was hilarious though.

I also think that people are over estimating the extent to which "opposition to communism" makes them petit bourgeois. They had people from the Polish solidarity movement organizing the people in Coutts Alberta. Yeah solidarity was "anti-communist" but it was a labour movement against the Communist Party. It was an attempt to fight "Communism" with what it claimed to represent.
