An anecdotal comparison of how helpful the so-called church is to those in need, compared to total strangers.

It's a sticky situation, but in this community, we have missionaries coming back early who need help. Often, people have rooms to let them crash land. It sounds like you're covered for that. It's also pretty surprising how many people here know someone in their area looking to rent out a room or get a roommate.

If you want, you could probably make a post tomorrow during the afternoon, similar to the one you made today. "Hey, I'm trying to strike out on my own, I got scammed. Does anybody know of a room to rent in X city?"

The way I see it, you're not that different from those missionaries; I'm sure other people would see it the same way. I'm sure people would be happy to supply you with leads for more permanent housing if you decide to ask. Just a thought.
