So you're saying PPE would make the difference in it being preventable? This seems specious to me.

We'll see if it bears out that more providers in NYC on a per capita basis are getting serious illness, and whether that's due to lack of PPE. I think it's a figleaf of security in a lot of ways, and I wouldn't take too much comfort in the idea that by wearing that stuff you will be safe from infection.

Healthcare providers need to start accepting the idea that bad luck is a huge part of disease courses. It's surprising to me the number of people who think they can avoid infection entirely or that they will be saved from serious illness through their own personal actions. Talk about an illusion of agency.
