An EU book's moral message what was something that you learned from it.

Having just watched the first Kenobi episode out of boredom and morbid curiosity (spoilers: it completely and utterly sucks), I am reminded of how Jude Watson portrayed Obi-Wan's arc in the Last of the Jedi series.

One of the most striking differences between Disneywars and old Star Wars is the absence of optimism/hope in the face of impossible odds. Now it's all total defeat and despair in the face of overwhelmingly invincible authoritarianism.

Ferus Olin inspired the people of Belassa and they didn't sell him out. And at the end of that first book Obi-Wan's plan revolved around "what they already had and not what they thought they needed" (each other and their will to resist).

At its core it really mirrors the theme of that very first Star Wars movie, of fighting for freedom against an empire. I don't suspect we'll be seeing much or any of that anymore, especially in the live action stuff. Lucas financed his own stuff himself decades ago but it's not like the big powerful corporation is going to want people getting any funny ideas.
