An examination of a fundamental problem with vehicles and aircraft in Planetside.

I feel like efforts to protect infantry from vehicles has done a lot to cause problems here, oddly.

Like, yes, classic rocket pods two-hitting an entire squad was ridiculous and was probably overkill (though I think part of the issue was that at the time everyone sucked and most people didn't have the shit unlocked they needed to solve problems).

Right now there's an issue that it's often difficult for vehicles to actually be useful to a fight, which means there's no need to bring vehicles to stop them- that manpower can usually be better utilized just dumping it at the capture point.

If vehicles were scary, that would making other vehicles doing AV necessary, which would also pull some pop away from the center of the fight and prevent the entire-platoon-trying-to-get-through-a-single-doorway problem that containment sites were such a terrible attempt at solving.

That said, I don't actually think this could be implemented because it goes against our instincts and too many people would lose their fucking minds because they're upset vehicles are still anything more than set dressing.
