An excellent breakdown of the 2019 Bears offensive regression by Bobby Peters: the author of “The 2018 Chicago Bears Offensive Manual”

Bingo, I got downvoted for the same thing. When do you ever see the 9er’s running 5 yard curl routes? Never. They have a scheme and stick to it. Run the ball, keep the defense guessing and moving (usually by a lot of outside-zone and misdirections) while hitting their receivers on playactions. Nagy wants to do a lot without ever setting an identity. They said in the article that Mitch struggled with play action but went to his first miss which was the first time it was called so far in the season and used that as an excuse. What they didn’t care to mention was that a receiver was open, and that was the last time we saw a playaction in that game.. so I mean, it does kinda go back to the theme of Nagy giving up on stuff (like the run game or PA in this case) too early and settling for plays that aren’t designed to get YAC, but are higher percentage throws to keep the chains moving.
