An honest and open obituary for a woman who suffered from opioid addiction - Madelyn Linsenmeir, 1988-2018

The dad spoke the literal truth. Addicts love doing heroin so much that it leads to their demise. Before they pass out and die they are in euphoria, not pain. Speaking that truth might help people better understand just how insidiously dangerous opioids are: that you will love it so much that you will put aside any love you have for your parents, your children, your relationships, your work, your hobbies, your dreams, yourself, just to chase that high, even if it's straight off a cliff.

I know that this comment may in turn be perceived as insensitive, but I'm just frustrated because the way society talks about the problem doesn't seem to be effective in stopping people. Most of us are powerless to do anything concerning government policy and funding for this issue, but we can control how we talk about the issue.
