An idea to make manned turrets useful and fun.

I agree with that, but it has some problems in implementation. Namely, what good is it to have a guy in a turret.

If turrets are as efficient as fighters, why bring fighters? Let's just all get our Connie's and idrisis and duke it out, right? With an enormous buff to turrets, fighters won't serve a purpose except to pick on non-combat ships (which I maintain, is lame).

But, people want to use their turrets. They also want fighters to be important. We can have both, but not the way it's going at the moment. We need roles to get the WWII-in-space feel that star citizen is going for. What we need is for the combat focused large ships to be exponentially better at their jobs than a gaggle of fighter, without buffing turrets to the point that we don't need fighters. The bottom line is, /u/nhorning is right. PEople need to adjust their expectations of thrrets, because cgi isn't going to want to make fighters useless. They want to make multi-crew fun.

That can be done once the ships are able to play their roles. And to clarify, this is WWII in space, or else there would be no fighters at all. We'd be in submarines, launching nuclear missiles from over an AU away without ever seeing the target, because that is more similar to what real space combat would be
