An open letter to the CEO of MillerKnoll and others et al.

A few weeks ago my firm cut a couple dozen assistants because they wanted a higher exec/assistant ratio. They called it "personnel rebalancing." Didn't give them any notice at all, just called to HR and bounced.

I literally offered to personally kick in $10k of my own comp to save my assistant, but management wouldn't go for it.

A few days later I was talking to one of the higher ups and asked him, "I guess we're having a bad year, how bad is it?" And he went on to tell me that we're on pace for our most profitable year ever. I don't want to get too specific but we're talking over a billion in revenue.

I'm generally pro "get whatever you can" but that was a real downer of a moment for me. So tone deaf and callous. This Knoll CEO pisses me off because its a similar level of tone-deafness and because she hasn't earned the bonus. Like when Bezos got paid, I was like "bro you created this massive company, you earned everything you got, go get your $400M yacht," but Knoll has plummeted in value, how is she getting this bonus?!
