An Open Letter to the Reddit Community

I really enjoy my Dad's story, and it's interesting to see that the appeals of healthcare in the US aren't the same as they were before.

My dad came to the US of A because of some bad ketchup. He was eating out with some family, and ordered a burger. They gave him one of those ketchup packets on the side, and when he put it on his burger, he noted that it tasted strange. It didn't mean much to him then though. A few days later, he's pretty badly sick. His illness lasted for months, going from doctor to doctor, with no one really being educated enough to treat it. His immune system overcame it, but at this point it's been pretty much 8 months of him being deathly sick.

A couple of his siblings had already migrated to the US, and when they heard about what happened to him, they urged him to get over here. Something like that would never occur here. After a bit of convincing, and some money saving, my dad came to America.

He humbly opened his own shop after doing a grand-range of odd-jobs, met my mother, and became a kinda-successful entrepreneur. I would not be standing here were it not for some old, shitty ketchup, and the wonders of the US health care system.
