An unfortunate first geocaching experience seen in r/AskReddit

Oh, I remember my worst experience geocaching. You see, I lived in the Cascade Mountain Range at the time, so basically everything beautiful was a couple miles hike. I found out about this cache that was near a waterfall that was surprisingly close to my place, so I decided to go out and find it. I'm a pretty good hiker, so I was prepared for the hike itself: about 3 miles along the side of a hill, up to a small creek that didn't know whether it wanted to become a waterfall or not. Quite beautiful, but so are a lot of the hikes out there.

It was when I found the cache itself that I knew something was different. Usually you'll find a cache near a water fixture and it'll be in some kind of waterproof enclosure, just in case. It rains so much it's safer to do this anyways. Well this was just a small tin with a lid that didn't look like it really fit. Honestly it kinda looked like those weird PS4s with the side panel not on right, but smaller, about the size of a paperback. I went to open it, and it must have been rigged or something, because as soon as I popped the lid, I saw a bright flash. Everything went white, and then black as my eyes adjusted. Before I knew it, I heard a voice behind me. "Hey you, you're finally awake". I knew right away, Todd Howard had done it again.
