People leave their countries to come here because they feel that they're forced to find better economic prosperity. Then they get here and are unable to become naturalized and unable to contribute to taxes and social welfare. They can't then leave and take their newfound prosperity back to their old countries and improve them. Instead they are socially and fiscally isolated.

Most people literally don't care. The plight of people who shouldn't be in our country is irrelevant. I have personally not enjoyed the Mexicanization of my home that my family has lived in for hundreds of years. More crime, lower property values, the schools are going to shit wasting resources on kids that can't speak english. No bueno. I'd rather pay more for strawberries.

Yet we don't have an appropriate system in place for processing them.

I think you underestimate how close that process is to becoming a bullet.
