No, it’s a good in practice as well, which is exactly my point. Tariffs do NOT work in practice — they tend to cost huge amounts of money (millions) to protect a single blue collar job. And there is a large amount of data behind all of this.

Unfortunately, decisions on tariffs are taken by buffoon politicians, which is why you (and surely others) think economics is “soft” science.

Total misconception because economics is probably the most math intensive science after physics. The field literally reinvented research techniques beyond randomized control trials, and did so using by employing rigorous math. It’s why many economists are also mathematicians and vice versa.
