Ancelotti: Ibra invited to Everton, but not to play

I heard this interview he said something like;

"Ibra is welcome to come to Liverpool....but not to play"

He clearly meant the city of Liverpool but the way he said it made it sound like he was talking about the RS. If anyone in football says "Liverpool" you'd automatically think they were talking about the club rather than the city. Everton tend to refer to the area as "Merseyside" when talking geography as not to use the L-word, e.g. "The pride of Merseyside"

When he said "but not to play" I took it as him clarifying his awkward sentence as that he meant not play for Liverpool. As in "oh fuck I'm the new Everton manager and I've just said a player is "welcome to come to Liverpool" in a sentence!".
