Anderson Silva on Dana White allowing GSP to box "the almighty (White) needs to stop being annoying and let him (GSP) go his own way. Nothing coming from Dana surprises me."

I understand having exclusive promotion rights to a guy that last fought for you 1-2 years ago. That seems reasonable. But these contracts that seem to give Dana ownership over a fighter for all time.. GSP last fought 4 years ago. This is basically slavery. Dana basically owns GSP's soul. It's just wrong.

My viewpoint is that the fighters shouldn't make more money, and they shouldn't have health insurance. A hungry (literally) fighter is hungry (figuratively) to fight. Don't pay for fighters' surgeries, and they won't pull out of fights to get surgeries. Pay fighters peanuts, and they will fight like nuts. These are all great things for the fans and therefor great for the sport.

But GSP being owned by Dana forever.. is not great for the fans. After 2 years, let alone 4 years, he should be allowed to give the fans more fights.

I hold those unpopular views about fighter pay and I also hate the Ali Act. So, understand the side of the discussion that I'm coming from is extremely anti-fighter and pro-promoter. Most importantly, I'm for the fans though. This ridiculous endless ownership over fighters' souls is what's going to get the Ali Act enforced over MMA contracts or get a new law passed to extend the Ali Act to MMA. And good riddance.
