I’ve need gaming for like 20 years and I’ve never had a console brick or get lost/stolen. There were only ever two notable occurrences, one where a patch released during the first season of The Walking Dead erased my progress (dev issue) and once where L.A. Noire overheated my Xbox 360 and I get to get a new one (kept my hard drive though). I don’t see cloud saves as much of an issue. It seems like something that on paper sounds like a no brained lets be mad about it kind of thing but their reasoning for not supporting it makes more sense to me than the hypothetical situation of maybe bricking your Switch or losing it. In which case you’ve got bigger problems than your Animal Crossing save.
