[Anime Spoilers] What makes Attack on Titan an above avarage anime?

It defies the cliches that you see in many animes. The main character isn't OP (despite the fact that he revealed to have a powerful ability), and in fact needs assistance in most of the fights that he is in. Eren fails all the time. Cliche themes like team work, and friendship are stomped on literally(Petra). It is shown many times that having confidence, and faith in your comrades doesn't always mean that victory is assured. As Levi says, he has faith in his abilities, and faith in his teammates but who knows how things will still turn out.

There is no cliche "evil" villan in AOT, just two sides battling in a cruel world. Eren fights for freedom not just because he thinks he is on the right side of the conflict but because he feels that he is entitled to freedom because he was born into this world. He didn't ask to be born so he feels that he has no right to be persecuted because of his existance which is a perfect contrast to Zeke's ideology. There are many more reasons that I could state but these are the top reasons why it's my favorite anime.
