Anne Frank’s father Otto, revisiting the attic in 1960 where they hid from the Nazis.

A father clearly grieving his lost family is less funny than that.

Otto Frank was the head of the family, his most important job was to protect his family, yet he put his own anti-fascist political views over the safety of his family.

The sad truth is that if Otto Frank had chosen Fascist Italy in 1933 instead of anti-fascist Netherlands, Anne Frank would still be alive at the ripe age of 92.

In October 1933, the head of the Jewish Agency in Geneva, Victor Jacobson, wrote to Chaim Weizmann, who served as the President of the World Zionist Organization, and later as the first President of Israel, that, “Mussolini is eager to open even wider the doors of Palestine to Jewish immigration, particularly to the refugees coming from Germany”.
