Engineering - it depends on what type of engineering you're doing... it's breaking into the industry that is the hardest part too. So I know the people who are struggling are usually the new grads, and often the ones with no relevant experience or who did not make the right connections in school.

I have a MSc. in my field (geology). I've had to collect unemployment a few times since my field is boom and bust, but when I'm working I'm well paid. I graduated with my B.Sc. with only $8500 in student loans thanks thanks to scholarships, parents (field school, field gear, and a cell phone), working in my field in the summers after 2nd year, working P/T through first year and before and after first year, cheap rent, and an RRSP from a family member (I know I was lucky).
