Anon knows his history

As someone who lives in an ex Yugoslavian country, that was a minor thing if it even was a thing. The reason it fell was mostly because the asshats in charge wanted their own countries and have power. When Tito was still alive he even sent most of them to a prison camp. Alija Izadbegović was one of them (and possibly Arab funded, but this is stepping into conspiracy here) despite being hailed a hero these days. They started importing way too much, the money became devalued, which led to inflation and a depression, which led to unrest due to dissatisfaction. Then you had some asshats play up the religious tensions and it blew up like a cask of gunpowder. They wanted power and nothing would stop them from getting it, including thousands of their own people dying.

That being said, Yugoslavia had its own fair share of problems under Tito. It was socialist, so no religious or political freedom, no chocolate, bananas, or really much import at all. News was controlled and propaganda. But at least you had free medical insurance and a guaranteed job the moment you turned 18 with more than good pay, schools were free, you could travel freely between the countries, land was without tax, and workers were actually valued. When you can walk away and get a job at a different factory the same day, you bet your ass people are gonna value your work.
