Another "not homophobic" gem from unpopular opinions

  1. You bringing up that you’re involvement in the LGBT+ community made you less accepting of gay people is irrelevant, and it just makes you sound like a pick-me (which you probably are).

Starting with an insult is not a good way to open an arguement. And thank you for reaffirming my original point.

The OP of the unpopular opinion post has a belief that shows that they don’t understand the reasoning behind having pride as a member of an oppressed group.

I am apparently part of the oppressed group and I don't understand the reasoning behind it either.

Besides, I don't draw that conclusion from OP's post. In fact, I cannot understand where you got that conclusion from, unless there was something I've seriously overlooked.

Such sentiments claim non-heterosexuality is shoved down peoples throats,

I mean, when you look at some of the kinky shit that happens at certain pride parades, it's hard not to arrive at that conclusion as an outsider.

that the LGBT+ community is filled with softies/wimps, and that members of the community are self-righteous and entitled.

But I've seen plenty of stereotyping in this sub about all straight people being raging Christian homophobics that want to kill all the gays etc. Funny how THAT stereotype is ok, but stereotypes about the community are not?

The entire point of having pride (in this situation) is to acknowledge that an individual identifies with an oppressed group, and that they won’t hide nor cower in the face of opposition.

How valiant of you.

So what are you going to do about the other oppressed groups in the world? There are many religious, ethnic and idealogical groups that are being oppressed right now. Where is the support and parades for them?

The conclusion I am drawing from your post is that, should you base your entire being on how oppressed you are, you will turn blind to other oppression in the world. Would you say this is a fair evaluation?
