Another shooting record broken, and here's where it all happened- CBC

As someone who works with at risk communities, there is a big cultural factor that I believe leads to kids joining gangs. I can only speak for the East African communities but there is a large amount of domestic violence against the women done by the husbands.

The kids are kinda left to fend for themselves as the parents are too focused on other things, be it jobs or simply not giving a shit. So when a concerned parent would see their kid hanging with dirtbags or dressing the part, these parents don't see it or don't care. Then when they make the morning news it's always "he was such a nice kind boy" yet his picture makes him look like that Gucci gang kid.

Obviously this sort of thing can affect all cultures and races, I'm just putting my personal input based on the race and cultures we see in the 'dangerous' parts of Ottawa.
