A border fence is not a big deal for a rich country like ours who has a big illegal immigrant problem. We're talking less than 2% of our annual military budget.

That's a bullshit figure, because it doesn't account for the 24x7 manning and monitoring that would be required to make a wall more than a minor speed bump. We've seen literally tons of drugs and people going under, around, or over the walls we have. Even if you build it the entire length of the border (which we can't realistically do), that isn't going to stop people.

No, I'm going by what the vast majority of studies of the proposed wall have determined it will cost, and then factoring in the fact that the GOP doesn't even include the costs of the kind of manning and monitoring it would require to have even a marginal level of effectiveness.

The walls we have now, even in populated areas, that are manned and monitored constantly still don't stop them.
