Antagonist development help!

no problem!

nice, i love a good guy gone bad

so if we break it down, he becomes obsessed with bringing the girl he loved and lost. so it can be like, if you could show it through his memories via his pov, he could be in denial of her death, he could be hopeless of life without her presence, then he could learn about a way to bring her back, and at this point in the story he's so invested in this that he does not care about hurting people getting in his way, etc... See what i mean? character development. things happen and change the character, constantly. or if you want to stick to a completely evil antagonist, it would be fine too since you could get away with it like Voldemort did in Harry Potter. Voldemort- Tom Riddle had a doomed childhood that lead up to him becoming Voldemort. Up until he split his souls (which stripped him away from humanity) he wasn't truly evil. yes, he was not a good guy, he still hurt people and wanted to be feared and such, but what he went through precisely put him in that position
