Queer, in this context, is also a slur. I’m pretty sure Ant was using queer more like you’d hear in an Alabama roadhouse and less like you’d see on a t-shirt at a pride parade.

In fact, Ant used the n-word in a socially acceptable way. Censoring it gives that word, used benignly here, more weight than the de-humanizing attack he recorded about the people he targeted.

And before you talk about history, let’s talk about the present. Identifying as LGBTQ+ puts you are at a greater risk of cultural violence than any other identity. Notice I didn’t say state violence because cops aren’t constantly murdering unarmed gay people like they do black men. Add in self-harm and the odds of cultural violence is astronomical in comparison.

What Ant did here is fucking awful. And the fact that we censor one slur, but not the other when the other is the one being used hatefully, is pretty fucking weird. Notice, I did the same thing throughout this whole comment. Pretty fucking weird.
