Anthony Pearled, Post Claims

Let it be known, I dispute the authority of the Prime Minister to make any arrangements for the disposition of this pearl apart from Concordia's courts.

Our constitution clearly states in amendment VIII, "All prisoners in Concordian territories are subject to the jurisdiction of the Concordian Judiciary." The Prime Minister is not a Judge, and therefore has no authority in this matter. The Judges in Concordia at this time are myself, /u/scuwr, and /u/sashimii.

If in future Concordia should form reciprocal extradition treaties with foreign states, and if our legislature should see fit to make the Judiciary subject to such treaties, in my personal view that would be just great, and that would legally subject our courts to foreign claims. But nobody has done that. As the law stands, Concordian courts may make rulings based on crimes committed within Concordian jurisdiction, and once these are satisfied a prisoner must be released.

I heartily wish all alleged victims of this alleged criminal the full opportunity to seek redress in their various jurisdictions. But at the present time it would be illegal for the Concordian Government to be the vehicle for such redress. I would personally encourage any foreign parties allegedly wronged on non-Concordian soil by this or any other alleged criminal in Concordian custody to encourage their governments to work with Concordia on forming bilateral extradition treaties, so that Concordia's neigbors and Concordia itself could equally benefit from mutually assured justice.
