The anti-vaxxer movement in a nutshell.

but in this thread we are discussing vaccines. You are trying to divert attention from the issue at hand.

You're missing the point of the issue then. Do you think this is a question of whether artificially introducing an infectious agent into a body leads to future enhanced immunity? If thats what you think this debate is about, then you're ignoring virtually the entire debate.

When you consider that measles is an extremely infectious disease, it means that there will be a significant number of deaths every year even in first world countries if we stop vaccinating against measles.

This is misleading. Some of these immunocompromised people that previously died of measles can still be dying of other diseases. This is not to say that vaccinations are pointless, but to suggest that society is better in every sense because of vaccines is unfounded.

think of it this way, if 100 people were dying previously of measles, but afterwards, 100 people are dying through stricter government enforcement procedures, do you think you really solved anything?

Society as a whole has changed since the introduction of vaccinations in the 1960s. I would say it's a change for the worse, but thats just my opinion. What you can't deny is that autism has been sharply on the rise since that time. Is it caused by the vaccines? Who knows, but some people feel that it is. You have no moral authority to force these people to comply with your opinions in contradiction to their opinions.

Yes, and without preventable diseases like measles being spread by selfish people who refuse to get themselves and their kids vaccinated despite better knowledge, they could have had a much greater chance of living long, full lives.

Again this is short sighted. The world is a very different place than what we started with in the 1960s. The prisons are over-flowing and you apparently want to jam a few more people in them. Autism is on the rise and you are ignoring peoples fears. So when you say "long, full lives", what you really mean is servants in your orwellian state. When they try to go a different direction than what you want, then you lose your shit. So lets not pretend that they get a full life by their definition, they only get what you allow them to get.

you haven't presented one single argument that holds up under scrutiny.

I was the one that pointed out that measles is a disease of poverty. Prior to this you were pretending that it was vaccines that lead to the greatest results. After I made this point, you've had to begrudingly admit that I was right.

Still you want to make it seem that a measles vaccine if it saves even a single life, yet you don't care what kind of life that is. It could be a state pumping children full of mercury and aluminum leading to autism, but apparently thats still a full life when they're brain dead.

Ultimately this entire debate comes down to freedom over ones own body. I'm pro-choice and you're anti-choice. You want the government (or if you prefer the community as a whole) to control peoples lives and bodies.

A few of us though don't want to live by your rules. It's this disobedience that upsets you, not that a few people visiting disneyland got sick for a few days without any major complications. you want people to comply with the government and some people are resisting. It's as simple as this.
