I have no doubt that if I sta down with 99% of Russians they would be good people... until we got to Putin.

There's a kind of dangerous idea floating around on Reddit that the majority of Russians oppose Putin. From Russians that I know here in the EU who since the start of war have essentially been disowned by their families for their opposition to the war, that is just not true.

The Russian people are fed a steady stream of state propaganda and have been since childhood. A huge proportion of them, if not even a slight majority, will still support Putin here, will believe the stories about the "Russian genocide" in Ukraine, and will see the sanctions as aggressive western actions.
