Antonio Garza drops out of high school to focus on YouTube

as someone who has done one (1) online class during high school- online classes can be so, so tricky. especially if you don't receive support from those around you. as in, knowledgeable, prompt support. I really hope antonio does pass their classes, and does finish high school, because not doing so can be so disadvantuous job wise, education wise, and experience wise.

one of my fave youtubers, Jessie Paege, actually did something more drastic than Antonio during high school: she moved from the East Coast to the West Coast (LA) during her high school years, and then completed high school online. now, I'd argue that this partially worked in her favour because people at her previous school had began to find out that she made youtube videos, and it made her uncomfortable because they were used to her being more socially withdrawn than most and were asking her question about her online presence + she had selective mutism, which added to her being socially withdrawn, but moving cross country, dropping out of going to a physical location for school, living without your parents/with roommates, completing school online, and primarily focusing on one's youtube/online career at the age of 16-17? those are huge fucking steps to take in one's life, at that age, and within that time frame. granted, Jessie is quite smart, is very dedicated to her work, and had the luck of living with good roommates, but she is an outlier in terms of growing up at an accelerated rate, and I doubt most high school aged teens could have done what she did

and I mention all this because Antonio is the same age as Jessie, and this trend of high school aged people dropping out of high school to do alternative things like becoming an influencer, or doing only online classes... I'm not saying it's not possible, but it can be so, so tricky to do, and some of these influencers seem to think that just because X was able to do it, they could totally replicate their success too, which isn't always the case. and I just don't want to see Antonio being disadvantaged from potentially making a silly mistake, even if Antonio has disliked school for quite a while now. because being disadvantaged education wise sucks ass and it takes time and money to recover from that.
