Any advice for music producers?

Learn songs and figure out what's going one when you find a chord progression you haven't learnt before

You need to internalise sounds and feelinga

listen to all sorts o music from old chinese stuff to Steve Reich minimalist stuff

listen to a lot of james brown and understand what his musicians are doing

I dont understand this 'training ear for intervals and will progress to chord progressions'

Either you're doing ear training or not, you don't really have to separate these things. You should be knowing chord progressions by ear by now; it's not magic, just practice everytime you listen to music.

The next step is to just make music, I hope you play an instrument; practice that instrument and learn lots of songs on it. This will help immensely
