Do you have any advice for a young person trying to move to a different city without much financial support?

I'd say see if you can stay with a friend for a month or two just till you get a job settle and get sort financially stable. In that specific area I would recommend George (I used to work the for 5 years until the end of last year) rather than the other towns. Economically George has been growing quiet a bit over the last couple years. In addition there actually some software dev companies there and they will probably let you start working remotely because of Covid anyway. Otherwise dotsure and Oakhurst always seem to be looking for sales people. Because of economic growth there has been a bit of an increase of people moving there and the rental market for bachelor's and 1 bedroom flats is a bit strained so you may struggle to find a place quickly. Public transport works quite well so you can get away with no car. I'd say you can live relatively comfortably with about R10k - 15k per month (considering work experience and the average salary for the area) but could even get by with less.
