Yep!
I try to just use it to make the ratings reflect what is actually happening on the field since there are no roster updates. Without it, McCullers sits in the minors for 2+ seasons and never amounts to much more than a middle of the rotation guy. It just feels wrong having Appel as my #2 and McCullers still scratching away in AAA.
Turning Correa into a Cabrera-Trout hybrid is also highly recommended :D
Other things that I've found thru my sims:
Marisnick can be a beast if you platoon him for the first 2-3 seasons, slowly upping his ABs.
Keep a close eye on Castro/Conger. If you manage their PT based on who has the hot bat, you can get close to all-star caliber production between the two of them. If they both get cold at the same time, call up Stassi and see if he can light a fire under their asses.
Lowrie seems to produce just as well in the 7-9 slots as he does at the top of the order. This is pretty unique. I've noticed a lot of guys don't do well at the bottom of the order, even Altuve caliber hitters will see a ~10% drop in AVG/OBP.
Fields/Harris/Sipp have all been studs in just about every sim I've done so far, so don't trade them if you don't have to (at least not in the first 2 seasons). I generally try to shop Thatcher and Qualls early on because they are such a crap shoot and you can get some quality prospects back in return for them.
And lastly, don't trade Castro at the trade deadline if you are making a playoff push. I've tried this twice, and both times it has tanked the team since his morale/popularity ratings are pretty high. You can disable the morale/popularity functions, but I think they add a lot to the algo and make the game more enjoyable overall.
