Have any of you had any success getting out of a UFC Gym membership?

I signed up on a year contract

You signed a contract to go to a gym? Like on paper with your real name, SSN etc? Why would you do that? Back before I bought a place I wouldn't even sign a year lease on a place, 6 months was where it was at. But for a gym thats kind of hardcore.

However, life immediately got in the way, forcing me to move, find another job that conflicts with my payments, and now I am stuck on a contract when i only used the gym for 1 month.

Yeah, generally contracts are there to fuck you. So now its fucking you. Take a look at the contract you signed, to go to a gym for a year. There might be a termination penalty that will end up being less than paying the next 11 months. Otherwise you will need to pay the full amount. Of course you could always just stop paying them but.. you probably set them up on auto pay didn't you? I bet you even gave them access to not just a credit card, you gave them access to your bank account? Bad idea, I don't even let my mortgage payment come directly out of my bank account, auto pay is a fantastic way of getting fucked. But keep in mind even if you change cards or put a stop on that payment at your bank, they will send it to collections who you will need to send a "cease and desist" letter to get them to stop. But then you're probably going to be sued. Their options if then won (they'd probably win) would be to garnish your wages or bank account. Also this is going to be fucking your credit all up, so its probably in your best interests to pay and learn a life lesson about contracts. Also auto pay is bad from a credit card, but its plain idiotic from a bank account. Good luck.
