Any HR Professionals Here? HR told me to stop working, but continue being paid.

Yes definitely! We deal with clients on the phone (inbound call center environment) so to simplify the process, although legally we are responsible for renewing our licenses... This process was automated for the sake of efficiency by a separate team (licensing team). Since I got hired several years ago, I have not renewed my license. It was automatically renewed and confirmation was sent yearly by the licensing team. This is the first time where all of a sudden I am being told I had to renew it.

Even if this was the case, my question is - why wasn't this communicated to me why we were waiting for accesses? Why didn't my manager confirm my license was active? Why was I given the wrong guidance? Arguably I could be at fault but it still begs the question of how accountable was I relative to the manager/organization for indicating I am to proceed with work?

I am looking to see if I have any options legally should I be dismissed inappropriately, or perhaps this is common HR process?
