Any insight on government hiring process?

It can take a while simply because there are a lot of hoops to jump through. You have the job posting which has to be posted for a certain amount of time, then the person who is hiring has to review all of those applications, then depending on the person hiring, plus the number of applicants they will do a work sample. Then those work samples have to be graded to narrow the pool. Then they have to schedule interviews. Then they have to grade/score each person who interviewed. Then they have to pick their top 3. Then that gets sent to their personnel liaison who then sends it to personnel who then has to review it. Then back ground checks are done. It can take anywhere from 1-3 months for most places. Even longer for places like FDLE (from what I've heard).
