Any other midwesterners/Southerners tired of Caro's lazy uninformed metropolitan/liberal elite narratives?

I’m from Mississippi (lived there from 9-22 and most of my family lives there) and currently live in Brooklyn. She reminds me so fucking much of the white women here (I’m also white but this phenom is almost exclusively white women in my experience) who act as though I escaped some kind of abusive situation in a backward country when I say I moved to Brooklyn from the Deep South. She reminds me of a woman who asked me if I rode a fucking horse to school every morning. Or the finance bro who asked me when we got internet. Or the white women who ask me (another white woman) if MS is “like super racist.” (Yes I witnessed a lot of racism just like I have in NYC but I cannot speak to the experience of living while black anywhere so why are you asking me???)

Newsflash, Caro, bc I know you lurk here: it’s not interesting to shit on the South (or anywhere else honestly). It’s elitist as fuck. Racism, homophobia, transphobia and sexism exist literally everywhere. Including NYC. I’m so over it and it allows bigotry to flourish everywhere if we take everything bad in the US and say “oh that’s the South’s problem WE are so progressive in our gentrified Manhattan neighborhood where we call the cops on black people who ‘don’t look like they belong’”

Sorry for the rant, I’m just so fucking over it.
