Very much so. A penfriend included a track from Gothic on a compilation tape she made for me in about 1992, and the four albums, Gothic, Shades of God, Icon and Draconian Times, are all still amongst my favourites. I saw them three times in the early '90s, but the last gig I was at was just at the time when they were veering towards Depeche Mode/Siouxsie territory, and they pretty much got booed off-stage. On the way out afterwards, I heard people all around me going, "That was fucking shite!" They were on the verge of being the next Metallica and they really blew it.

Of similar style and era, I also love the early My Dying Bride stuff. I think their album Like Gods of the Sun was on a par with Paradise Losts's Icon.
